Waste Collection & Recycling
Our garbage and recycling service is provided by Rumpke who have given Thornhill residents excellent professional service for many years. Their phone number is 568-3800. Please feel free to contact them whenever you have questions or concerns.
Residents are asked not to take any trash items to the curb before 5:00 on Sunday.
Regular trash and recycling pick-up is every Monday morning providing it does not fall on the following holidays:
New Years Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Christmas Day
If one of the above holidays is on a Monday, trash will be collected on the next day, Tuesday.
Residents of Thornhill can choose whether they prefer to have their trash picked up from their backyards or if they would like to take their trashcans to the street to be emptied. New residents should contact the commissioner in charge of trash collection.
For those who choose back-yard pickup: Three (3) standard trash cans will collected at the rear, but those residents may set additional household trash at the curbside if properly contained in bags or cans.
For those who choose curbside pickup: You should use the heavy-duty Rumpke 95-gallon waste-wheeler which you have been given to replace your current trash cans. The waste wheeler must be placed at the curb no earlier than 5:00 PM Sunday evening and no later than 5:00 AM Monday morning.
